Parent Organization: Community Service & Philanthropic Interests
Who we are:
Students for an Ethical and Participatory Education's mission is to make the university experience more just and democratic. We seek to build an ethical democratic university by organizing students and the greater community to fight to end or transform policies
and institutions that further class division, white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, authoritarianism, and ecological devastation. Conversely, we seek to build a self managing student body by organizing students to build institutions that promote a; classless,
poly-cultural, feminist, sustainable, and highly democratic university.
We believe that true education is a prerequisite for democracy, as well as an exercise there of. Not only do we seek the transformation of the university itself as an institution, but we seek the transformation of how education is defined. We believe true knowledge
can only be gained through critical dialogue, and active participation. Because of this we reject authoritarian teaching practices. Instead, we promote a dynamic relationship between the teacher and students that allows for free exploration and critical dialogue.
